Present Simple (Presente Simple)
Se usa para hablar de horarios y programas oficiales (transporte, eventos, etc.).
- The match starts at three.
- The train leaves at 9:00 AM.
Present Continuous (Presente Continuo)
Se usa para planes futuros que ya están organizados o decididos. A menudo implica que ya se han hecho arreglos con otras personas.
- I’m meeting Ela for coffee later.
- They are traveling to Baños next weekend.
Will
Se usa para:
- Predicciones (sobre lo que creemos que pasará).
- You’ll need some help this afternoon.
- Decisiones espontáneas (tomadas en el momento de hablar).
- "Was that the doorbell?" "I’ll get it."
- Ofertas, promesas y peticiones.
- I’ll give you a lift to work if you like.
- Expresar certeza sobre algo en el futuro.
- He’ll be here, don’t worry.
Be going to
Se usa para:
- Intenciones y planes que ya hemos pensado antes de hablar (no son decisiones espontáneas).
- We’re going to go to the beach some day next week.
- Predicciones basadas en evidencia presente (algo que vemos que va a pasar).
- Look at those clouds! It's going to rain.
- You’re going to trip over your shoe laces if you’re not careful.
Future Continuous (Futuro Continuo)
Se usa para:
- Acciones que estarán en progreso en un momento específico del futuro.
- This time next week, I’ll be lying on the beach.
- Acciones que se desarrollarán durante un período en el futuro.
- I’ll be working with Dan for the next few days.
- Eventos futuros que ya están planificados o son parte de una rutina.
- I’ll be seeing Andrea later.
- Suposiciones sobre algo que está ocurriendo ahora mismo.
- Manu will be landing about now.
Future Perfect (Futuro Perfecto)
Se usa para acciones que ya se habrán completado antes de un momento específico en el futuro. A menudo se usa con 'by' (para) o 'by the time' (para cuando).
- Let’s meet at 6. I’ll have finished work by then.
- By 2030, I will have visited all provinces of Ecuador.
Future Perfect Continuous (Futuro Perfecto Continuo)
Se usa para enfatizar la duración de una acción que estará ocurriendo hasta un momento específico en el futuro. Resalta cuánto tiempo habrá estado pasando algo.
- By the time we get there, we’ll have been travelling for 18 hours!
- In December, I will have been studying English for five years.
Future Time Clauses (Oraciones de Tiempo Futuro)
Cuando hablamos del futuro, después de conjunciones de tiempo como when, as soon as, after, before, until, once, by the time, usamos el present simple o el present perfect, NO 'will'.
- As soon as we see Noah, we’ll pass on your message. (Present Simple)
- I’ll call you after I 've arrived. (Present Perfect)
- Don't call me while I 'm working tomorrow. (Present Continuous)
Otras Frases para Hablar del Futuro
- Be (just) about to + infinitivo: Para algo que va a pasar inmediatamente.
- We were just about to call you.
- Be due to + infinitivo: Para algo programado o esperado.
- She’s due to call this evening.
- Be likely/unlikely to + infinitivo: Para expresar probabilidad.
- We’re unlikely to miss the plane – we’re only a bit late.
