Present tenses: simple, continuous y verbos de estado
En B1 ya no basta con conocer los dos presentes: hay que elegir bien entre lo habitual, lo temporal y lo que no cambia.
⏱️ En 30 segundos
✅ Present simple: rutinas, hechos y verdades generales. I work in Quito.
✅ Present continuous: ahora mismo o algo temporal. I'm working from home this week.
✅ Los verbos de estado (know, like, want, need, believe) casi nunca van en -ing.
✅ El continuous también sirve para cambios y planes: Prices are going up. I'm meeting Ana tonight.
🇪🇸 Cómo se dice en español
I work → trabajo (habitual)
I'm working → estoy trabajando (ahora / temporal)
I know → sé (nunca "I'm knowing")
I've lived here since 2020 → Vivo aquí desde 2020

She's living with her aunt for now.
Hábito vs ahora
I usually take the bus.
I'm taking a taxi today.
Hecho vs cambio
Water boils at 100°C.
My English is getting better.
2. Verbos de estado
I know the answer.
Sé la respuesta. (nunca "I'm knowing")
This coffee tastes amazing.
Este café sabe increíble. (estado)
I'm tasting the soup to check the salt.
Estoy probando la sopa. (acción: aquí sí va -ing)
💡 Algunos verbos cambian de significado: I think it's good (opinión) vs I'm thinking about it (proceso). I have a car vs I'm having lunch.
⚠️ Errores típicos de hispanohablantes
I'm wanting a coffee.
✓ I want a coffee.
Want es verbo de estado.
I'm going to the gym every day.
✓ I go to the gym every day.
Rutina: present simple.
Listen! Somebody sings.
✓ Listen! Somebody is singing.
Está pasando ahora.
I live here since 2020.
✓ I've lived here since 2020.
Con since/for: present perfect.
